have to get his mind set on recovering and attempting to force his way into the first team on a more regular basis in 2009/2010. He has appeared for the first team this season, most notably his heroics in the Carling Cup final at Wembley where he made several top drawer saves during normal time and a wonderful penalty save when it all went down to spot kicks. Speaking on the matter, boss Sir Alex Ferguson claimed,

“It is big blow for Ben as not only will he miss the Champions League final but also England’s summer internationals. Ben has tried to continue the season with this injury but it got so critical that an operation was the only way forward. It is disappointing for him but the important thing was to get this operation done,” said Sir Alex, speaking to the clubs official website.

Ben is tipped to be a future United number one along with a fruitful presence in the England set-up.
