United to Dive in For A Klass Buy?

Posted by Keano! on May 31, 2009

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing up Real Madrid’s front man, Klaas Jan Huntelaar as they look ready to release Carlos Tevez who is currently out of contract with United who aren’t looking likely to pay the £30M asking price for him.

With Tevez seemingly set to go, United may look to replace their man with a target of last Summer. Huntelaar was a rumoured target of Ferguson’s last Summer but opted for Dimitar Berbatov. Huntelaar is supposedly available at a cool 15-17 million pounds and Real would listen to offers.

The price is half that of Tevez’s and the 25 year old Dutchman could well be a hit at Old Trafford, especially if he follows in the footsteps of a previous Dutchman currently playing his trade at Real Madrid, Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Huntelaar scored 76 goals in 92 appearances for his former club, Ajax and has netted 8 times in 17 games for his club in Spain. Huntelaar recently admitted he was unhappy at the club when he was left out of the Real Champions League squad in favour of Lassana Diarra.

What makes this move a little more likely is that with new president, Florentino Perez, seemingly set to take the reigns, the future of several first team players is in doubt as Perez has commented on a “special project” on several occasions which involves taking world stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka to the Bernabeu. This could well leave the door open for Huntelaar to make a switch to Manchester should United show their interest.

United have also been linked with Lyon man, Karim Benzema in the wake of the news that Carlos Tevez looks set to be leaving United.
