Hargreaves Out Till January

Posted by Keano! on June 2, 2009

It has happened again to Manchester United and Owen Hargreaves, that the tendonitis situation in his knees has prolonged an injury. Manchester United aren’t expecting to be seeing him playing again until January 2010 and even then they’re not 100% sure.

Hargreaves underwent two knee operations, one on his left, and one on his right over the last few months and it was hoped that the Canadian born midfielder would be fit for the start of United’s 2009/2010 season, but that is now off the cards as surgeon, Dr. Richard Steadman, world renowned, delivered the news to player and coaches.

Owen’s time has been plagued with injury since his move from Bayern Munich in 2007 and since then, Hargreaves has made only 25 starts for United in his two seasons with the club has a lot of work to do to repay the £20M price paid or him.

Taking transfer fee and wages into account, Hargreaves has cost United a staggering £1.1M per start so far and it’s thought that if he isn’t back playing in 2010, Ferguson may decide to look elsewhere, but until then, Ferguson’s showing belief in his man just as he has done with former players who were out for whatever reason with Alan Smith, Gabriel Heinze, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer,  and most notably,  Eric Cantona joining the list.

Hargreaves played in United’s Champions League triumph in Moscow last year putting in a wonderful shift on the right wing and scoring an impressive spot-kick in the shootout.
