Ronaldo Excited About Real Move

Posted by Keano! on June 12, 2009

Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken out for the first time on his move to Real Madrid since news broke early yesterday morning that Manchester United had accepted an £80M world record bid for the Portuguese man allowing Real Madrid to speak with him.

Ronaldo who is currently in LA shopping and living it up spoke to Fox Sports about the news he heard and was flattered to know that two of the best teams in the world according to him were after his signature.

Ronaldo said,

"It’s flattering when two of the top teams in the world want you to play for them. The deal is historic, £80m is quite a sum of money.

"I learned about the deal here in LA and have heard from my people that Manchester United have accepted. However, I have also been told that Madrid want to have a medical team look at me as expected,” he added.

"I do not require surgery. The hernia is nothing to worry about.  I am on vacation and will remain in LA a bit more."

Real Madrid have stated that they believe the deal maybe completed over the weekend and possibly next week, with Manchester United claiming that they want all issues tied up come the end of the month, allowing them plenty of time to set out the stalls for next season and filling in the gaps left by Ronaldo’s pending departure.

Sir Alex Ferguson hasn’t said anything on the matter as of yet, and despite stating a while back,

“Do you think I’d do a deal with that mob?…Exactly, not a chance. Jesus Christ, I wouldn’t sell them a virus.”

Will it looks like Ferguson has had enough of the media speculation, enough of Ronaldo’s tantrums and seen the ideal time to part with his man, and it has to be said that, Jaap Stam aside, Ferguson knows when to send players on their way and in all honesty how many have been as successful when they left United? Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Gabrial Heinze, David Beckham, Roy Keane, Nicky Butt, Alan Smith and the list goes on.

Many are wondering if it was a certain incident that made up Ferguson’s mind with the end conclusion being that it was a culmination of events such as, Ronaldo throwing the training top away after being subbed against Manchester City, the shaking of the head on the bench as if to say “What the hell is he (Ferguson) doing?”, the pairs very public “go at each other” when Ronaldo skied a good chance against Wigan and most recently of all when Ronaldo decided to condemn Ferguson’s tactics in the Champions League final in Rome, which in fact were set out so Ronaldo would be the focal point of the United team and giving him the space and freedom to damage Barcelona.

More news and updates will follow as the deal of the Summer and the transfer saga of the past 18 months looks set to end.

well i think with ronaldo gone, rooney will be able to play in a more central role instead of out on the flank. this will suit both him and the club better.
