Robinho Longs For Tevez

Posted by Keano! on June 13, 2009

Brazilian forward Robinho of Manchester City has spoken of his desire for City to approach Manchester United for their Argentine work-horse, Carlos Tevez. Tevez who’s future remains in the balance at Old Trafford after United turned their noses up at the price tag, set by his economic rights owner, Kia Joorabchian, is being linked with several clubs including Liverpool and Real Madrid but on the face of it all, it looks like he will join Manchester City should he fail to be signed up by the Red Devils.

Tevez hasn’t been getting the runs of games he would have hoped for last season and was bitterly disappointed with the Champions League final selection which saw him sit on the bench for the first half in Rome.

Speaking to The Sun, Robinho said,

"We (Carlos and myself) would definitely complement City’s attack. I hope my club make a move for him.”

"It would be a pleasure to play with Carlos. He is one of the best players in the world and it is a shame he is not having more opportunities at his current club.  If he leaves United, as I have been reading in the last few days, and if the interest of City gets confirmed, of course I will try to convince him to join us.

"I am sure we would make a fiercesome duo up front. He is so fast and combative with great technique. If Carlos comes to City, and if the club manages to get two or three players of the same quality we can aspire to big things,” he continued.

"This season was not our best, but this was also our first year together and I don’t regret the option I made a year ago. In the coming season fans can definitely expect to see us in the top spots of the league."

Things may change though as Manchester United have £80M more in their account with the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo which could entice Ferguson to do the deal with Tevez. However, reports state that Ferguson rang Tevez on Monday about finishing the deal and Tevez exclaimed he was going to leave after his unhappiness at Ferguson’s usage of him in the United team.

If Tevez goes, expect a big name signing for United this Summer in attack and many of the signs are pointing to French star, Karim Benzema whose club chairman said recently that although he wasn’t looking to sell, Karim was not “un-transferable”
