Vidic Staying At United

Posted by Keano! on June 14, 2009

Nemanja Vidic will be staying at Manchester United after reports were linking him heavily with Real Madrid and most notably, Barcelona. However, the Serbian will be seeing his current contract out with the English Champions and will hopefully be renewing it.

Vidic’s agent, Paolo Fabbri, spoke of his belief that unless there was a moment of madness from “some Arab,” Vidic would be a United player next season, dismissing reports from Spain and Italy.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are supposedly interested in offering United £20M for his services but it is unlikely that a deal will ever materialise over the rock hard centre back. Jose Mourinho and Inter Milan also expressed interest and apparently saw an official bid of €20M turned away.

Speaking to Setanta Sports, Fabbri said,

“Nemanja Vidic will stay in Manchester. I don’t think we will have any surprises in the short term. We are not planning to move. This week, on Monday and Tuesday, we were at Manchester United to speak with David Gill, for other reasons, but we also spoke about Vidic.

“Vidic is supposed to stay there. A move is not possible unless some Arab makes a crazy offer! But in a normal situation, Nemanja will stay there. Barcelona and many other teams can be interested in Vidic, that is another story. Three or four Italian teams would be pleased to have the player.

“But he is under contract. His deal has been already extended until 2012.”

Vidic himself gave a brief interview to The News Of The World backing up his agents comments,

"I am very happy here and next season we will start again. I have got no desire to go anywhere.

"People forget that when you join a new league you don’t just have to adjust to the country, you also have to adjust to the style of football.

"I feel my game is well adjusted to England now and I want to play a part in a successful team next season. United can make it a record four titles in a row next year."

Vidic scored some key goals for United in the season gone by including a last minute winner against Sunerland at Old Trafford which saw United claim three valuable points.
