Title Defence Starts At Home – Birmingham City

Posted by Keano! on June 17, 2009

The Premier League fixtures for 2009/2010 have been released and Manchester United will kick off their campaign at home against newly promoted Birmingham City on August 15th.

Due to The FA and the Premier League being very nit-picky about the list of fixtures, MUN cannot publish the list in full as it would be breaking the strict copyright they are enforcing on it. We can however look at the entire list and pick out the juicy fixtures.

That Elusive FA Cup

Posted by Keano! on May 31, 2009

Not since the grand old season of 2004, which saw players like Diego Forlan, Quinton Fortune, Kleberson and Djemba-Djemba don the United shirt, have we won the world famous FA Cup. Eleven times it has had our name engraved into its illustrious list, but Manchester United has evaded it for long enough I think.

Its not that we haven’t been good enough, no. More complacency, bad luck and poor refereeing decisions are the deciding factors to why United haven’t grabbed a 12th, 13th and maybe even 14th FA Cup.

United’s Highs & Lows

Posted by Keano! on May 30, 2009

Another season has come and gone in the world of football and as always, it brings its highs and lows. MUN has comprised a list of United’s Five Highs and Five Lows for the 2008/2009 season. Some are blatantly obvious, and some maybe not so much, but either way, everyone will have their views on the season.

While the lows were hard to come by in all fairness, the highs list was endless and triumphs in the World Club Cup and Carling Cup miss out on MUN’s top 5 believe it or not along with Ryan Giggs stunning achievement of landing the PFA Player Of The Year award for the first time in his illustrious career.

I’m Not The Player I Used To Be – Scholes

Posted by Keano! on May 24, 2009

Paul Scholes has claimed that he doesn’t feel worthy of a place in the team for the Champions League final coming up. Scholes who hasn’t featured as prominently as he did in previous seasons believes that there is no room for sentiment and Sir Alex should send out a team without him in it to face the Catalans.

The Englishman, retired from International duties has said through The Sun that he’d be happier to start on the bench out of ability and form, then play from the first whistle out of sentiment. Scholes who doesn’t often make an appearance in the media had this honest and very respectable interview which began,

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has once again reiterated his desire to stay at Manchester United by dismissing links of a move to Real Madrid once again stating that he is focused on doing his best for United and looking forward to next season in Manchester.

Rome 09: Victory Parade Route

Posted by Keano! on May 20, 2009

It really is too early to tempt fate, but IF we beat Barcelona in Rome, as you know, the Council have agreed to allow the club to have a victory parade on the Thursday after the final.

It is a big if, but it’s good to know that should you find yourself in the position of seeing us win the game and then want to see the home coming parade, then this will be of use to you.

You should note that all of the destinations, times and details are subject to change and are not the final proposals, but it is more or less the route that would be used.

Rome 09: O’Shea’s A Starter

Posted by Keano! on May 20, 2009

Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that long serving defender John O’Shea will be the right back for United’s Champions League final appearance with Barcelona in Rome in a weeks time. The Irishman is set for his first Champions League final appearance and will get in ahead of Rafael and Gary Neville.

O’Shea, who is often left on the bench when all are fit with Wes Brown, Gary Neville and Rafael Da Silva, has been one of the performers of the season for United doing a sterling job when employed, most notably when Patrice Evra was out at left back.
