It’s All About Wayne’s World Now

Posted by Keano! on June 14, 2009

Ronaldo is on his way to Spain and I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Wayne Rooney won’t be as gutted as some to see the Portuguese man leave as the number ten can now take the reigns as the United focal point, which in my opinion anyways, he always was.

Rooney contains all the attributes you want in a player and if Sir Alex plays him in the central role which Rooney longs for then it could be the key to United’s future success.

FZ: He Came, He Dazzled, He Left

Posted by Keano! on June 12, 2009

The inevitable has happened. We couldn’t be sure when, or under what circumstances, we couldn’t be sure who would be the one to sanction it, we couldn’t even be sure how much for. But yesterday, 11th June 2009, it was revealed that Manchester United had accepted a world record offer of £80M from Real Madrid, and Cristiano Ronaldo was finally getting his dream move.

The inevitable fact was that he was going to go at some point. But saying it wasn’t still a shock would be a lie in itself. After last summers media frenzy, it was widely known that Madrid would come at United again despite the fact that they said it was all over in January. However, the time scale is rather astonishing. It’s only been 2 weeks since the Champions League final, after which the first collective newspaper speculation began for this year. But going further, after the first notion of a bid came the first acceptance of a bid almost straight away. Not exactly the drawn out circus we thought all thought it would be.

Fergie Must Copy Capello!

Posted by Keano! on June 11, 2009

Fabio Capello has really managed to get the best out of Wanyne Rooney of late, and the funny thing is, it’s playing him in his best position rather then playing him somewhere else to accommodate other players.

Ferguson, genius he maybe, but he persists in playing Rooney out wide where he is no where near as effective. Sure he tracks back, puts the opposition under pressure and sets up chances along with scoring the odd goal, but play him in a centre forward role and he will be odds on to score in every match with the Quality United have around him.

Dressing Room Camaraderie Eases Pain – Rio

Posted by Keano! on June 7, 2009

Rio Ferdinand has spoken of his belief that the friendships and banter among the current crop of United players will ease the pain suffered in Rome last month when Barcelona basically taught Manchester United a lesson for 80 minutes.

Ferdinand who is  a clear leader in the United setup has to look like the leader on and off the pitch and these comments add to it. Speaking to ChannelBee.com, Rio unveiled all with regards to who are the dressing room jokers and whose names are usually found at the end of a dressing room prank, and that when the laughing and joking knows no barriers with his teammates, there is a clear one with Ferguson which they have to respect says Rio,

Roo Wants To Be Center Of Attention

Posted by Keano! on June 5, 2009

Wayne Rooney has spoken out of his desire to play in a central role for Manchester United. The number ten has always believed he plays his best stuff right behind a front man or up front spearheading the teams attack. However, it hasn’t always panned out that way for Wayne as Sir Alex Ferguson, despite saying last Summer he’d play Wayne in his best position, opted to put the bullish attacker out wide left and sometimes wide right as the season progressed. Rooney had to fill in on the left wing for United in their Champions League final too.

Roo A Future Center Mid?

Posted by Keano! on June 1, 2009

Wayne Rooney, a man who typifies the term passion, work and endeavour. The 23 year old has made a massive name for himself becoming one of Manchester United’s most liked players down through the years, and he played his trade on Merseyside before making the switch which has seen the forward move onto new levels.

As a forward though, he has never and I doubt he will ever be a prolific goals corer like your Ole Gunnar Solskjaers, Ruud Van Nistelrooys and the like. For me and almost every other United fan, Wayne Rooney’s best role is playing just behind a front man who can play on the last defender and link the midfield and attack. That is where Rooney’s abilities are being used to the max I feel

That Elusive FA Cup

Posted by Keano! on May 31, 2009

Not since the grand old season of 2004, which saw players like Diego Forlan, Quinton Fortune, Kleberson and Djemba-Djemba don the United shirt, have we won the world famous FA Cup. Eleven times it has had our name engraved into its illustrious list, but Manchester United has evaded it for long enough I think.

Its not that we haven’t been good enough, no. More complacency, bad luck and poor refereeing decisions are the deciding factors to why United haven’t grabbed a 12th, 13th and maybe even 14th FA Cup.

United’s Highs & Lows

Posted by Keano! on May 30, 2009

Another season has come and gone in the world of football and as always, it brings its highs and lows. MUN has comprised a list of United’s Five Highs and Five Lows for the 2008/2009 season. Some are blatantly obvious, and some maybe not so much, but either way, everyone will have their views on the season.

While the lows were hard to come by in all fairness, the highs list was endless and triumphs in the World Club Cup and Carling Cup miss out on MUN’s top 5 believe it or not along with Ryan Giggs stunning achievement of landing the PFA Player Of The Year award for the first time in his illustrious career.

Ferdinand Insists United Will Bounce Back

Posted by Keano! on May 28, 2009

Rio Ferdinand has wasted no time in telling the media of United’s success already this season and that the team and club will bounce back stronger then ever after their 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in Rome’s Stadio Olimpico.

Ferdinand who admitted he should have done better for Barcelona’s insurance second goal has jumped to the defence of the team who has an impressive haul after a great season. Premier League – winners, League Cup – Winners, World Club Cup – Winners, Charity Shield – Winners, Champions League – Runners up – FA Cup – Beaten finalists.

I don’t know if I speak on behalf of all United fans here, but if I was told last August, when Cristiano Ronaldo was looking set to leave, no new signings had been made and Chelsea had appointed a World Cup winning manager, that we would end up with the titles above, I would have snatched your hand off in an instant. Hindsight, a wonderful thing…

Ferdinand, before United boarded their luxury bus driven all the way from Manchester – with no Carlos Tevez – commented,
